State Academy

Location: Fort Custer Training Center, Augusta, MI

The state academy is open to any explorer post. Explorer posts may register as many explorers as they wish. An explorer advisor is required to attend if they are registering any number of explorers.
The state academy is designed as a mock police academy.
1st year Explorers will...

Attend basic classes on police related topics

Learn about and practice drill and ceremony

Participate in physical fitness classes

Attend demonstrations from specialized police units

Be mentored by active Law Enforcement Officers
2nd year Explorers will...

Attend advanced classes on police related topics

Be mentored by active Law Enforcement Officers

Receive advanced policing techniques by their mentors

Wear and utilize an academy uniform (BDUs with maroon shirt)
-
Participate in physical fitness classes

Attend demonstrations from specialized police units
3rd+ year Explorers will...

Wear and utilize an academy uniform (BDUs and blue shirt) and duty belt
-
Participate in physical fitness classes
-
Receive advanced hands-on training
-
Operate a mock police department where they dispatch, utilize patrol vehicles, conduct traffic stop, make arrests, respond to calls for service and write reports
-
Attend demonstrations from specialized police units
